Autumn Cui Koi
Qiucui is a type of koi, a hybrid strain. There is a closely spaced fish scale on the back of the fish, reaching to the tail of the fish body. There is also a row of fish scales on the lateral line of the abdomen, and there are no fish scales on the rest of the body. The cobalt blue on the back and the red stripes on the lower abdomen are interesting, making it a treasure of light yellow koi.
The markings and colors of Qiucui
The head of Qiucui is clear light blue, and the back is blue. The tip of the nose, face, abdomen and base of the fins are red, and there should be no black shadows or black spots.
Characteristics of Qiucui's scales
The row of dark blue scales on Qiucui's back must be displayed neatly and solemnly. Between the row of scales on the back and the row of scales on the side of the abdomen, there are often large independent scales, called "scalae", and it is best not to have such plaques. If there are large scales arranged widely and irregularly, they are called "iron armor scales" and have no value.
Classification of Qiucui
Hua Qiucui: Those with running red stripes between the dorsal and ventral scales are called Hua Qiucui.
Fei Qiucui: The back is not blue but is generally red with the abdomen. It is called "Fei Qiucui". It is a variant of Qiucui koi and has a higher price.
Huang Qiucui: Yellow Qiucui with blue back. If the scales on the back are black, they are called "German yellow pine leaves".
